Fenerbahce hammer Spartak Trnava 4-0 to pass Conference League group stage

ANKARA: Fenerbahce hammered Spartak Trnava 4-0 and passed the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage on Thursday.

Despite the hosts dominating play from the beginning of the match, it was goalless until the 36th minute, when Ferdi Kadioglu slalomed through Trnava defense after latching onto Dusan Tadic’s through ball and made it 1-0.

In the second half, the Yellow Canaries continued to pile on the pressure.

After Edin Dzeko was taken down by Spartak defense, Tadic’s penalty kick got into the net after hitting Trnava goalie Dominik Takac’s back in the 48th minute.

Bosnian veteran Dzeko completed his shot, which came back from the Trnava post and was hit towards the goal by Kadioglu, making it 3-0 in the 58th minute.

Just two minutes later, Dzeko placed another classy low shot to Trnava goal and netted the hosts’ fourth goal.

The Yellow Canaries finished the Group H at the top with 12 points as Ludogorets beat Nordsjaelland 1-0 to finish second with a goal difference.
