The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of an incident involving a Turkish aircraft that flew over the buffer zone in the afternoon and this incident is being investigated.
A source from the MFA told Cyprus News Agency that the Ministry is aware of the incident and is in contact with the UN peacekeeping force.
Head of the local council of Denia Christakis Panayiotou has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately make representations.
In statements to CNA, Panayiotou said that the Turkish military plane was flying over the buffer zone of the community in circles for about an hour, adding that it also circled about 5 to 6 times over the village before heading to the Turkish occupied area.
He expressed the community's concern and said that as was his duty he "informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Guard and the United Nations."
