Evacuees from the Middle East continue to arrive in Cyprus

Flights carrying evacuees from the Middle East, primarily Israeli citizens, continued to arrive in Cyprus on Saturday amidst ongoing tensions in the region.

According to the latest information obtained by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) from Hermes Airports, which operates Larnaca airport, there are eight scheduled arrivals from and eight departures to Tel Aviv, mostly operated by Israeli airlines working to accommodate the high volume of passengers.

In addition to flights from Israel, two flights from Beirut carrying approximately 500 Australian citizens were expected to arrive in Larnaca on Saturday, one before noon and the other in the late afternoon. The Australian government has chartered flights for their onward journey home.

This follows an additional flight from Beirut arriving late Friday night carrying 70 passengers, including 38 Cypriot citizens. The Middle East Airlines flight also transported 11 Greek citizens, 2 Polish nationals, and 19 Lebanese citizens with permanent residency permits in Cypru

Meanwhile, marinas in Larnaca and Ayia Napa continue to receive a steady stream of boats arriving from Lebanon, carrying European citizens and diplomatic personnel from various embassies.
