The evacuation of foreigners from Sudan, via Cyprus, is expected to be completed on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Theodoros Gotsis told the Cyprus News Agency. He said that three evacuation flights are departing the island on Saturday and five more are expected to depart on Sunday. Gotsis said that overall, since the national scheme ESTIA - activated in case of emergency or crisis situation in order to allow for the safe evacuation of civilians from a nearby crisis area through Cyprus - was put in place, a total of 1,800 citizens were evacuated from Sudan and already 1,400 of them have departed for their final destination.
