ECB Vice President visits Cyprus for high-level meetings and CBC conference

President, Luis de Guindos, is scheduled to visit Cyprus on Wednesday, at the invitation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), Constantinos Herodotou.

According to CBC, de Guindos’ agenda includes a meeting with Herodotou, followed by official statements. The ECB Vice President will also be received by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Presidential Palace.

Furthermore, de Guindos will be the keynote speaker at the first annual conference of the CBC, under the theme “The Role of Monetary Policy in Addressing Inflationary Pressures.” The conference will also feature a speech by the CBC Governor.

Subsequently, presentations will be given by João Sousa, Deputy Director General of DG Economics at the European Central Bank, and Ernest Gnan, Secretary General of SUERF – The European Money and Finance Forum, and Honorary Economic Advisor to the National Bank of Austria Governor. They will discuss “Inflation uncertainty ramifications on investment and business decisions.”

Finally, a roundtable discussion will take place with Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki, President of the Banks Association Panicos Nicolaou and President of Invest Cyprus Evgenios Evgeniou.

The conference will be held at the Parklane Hotel in Limassol at 14:30 and will be open to the media. A live broadcast of the conference will be available on the Central Bank of Cyprus’ YouTube channel.
