The proceedings of the Plenary of the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg begin on Monday with the 2022 Report on Turkey on the agenda, while on the third day of the Plenary President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will deliver her State of the Union speech.
On the first day of the Plenary session, the reinforcement of the European defence industry through the Common Procurement Act will be discussed. On the same day, topics such as amendments to the EP Regulation with a view to strengthening integrity, independence and accountability, surface water and groundwater pollutants, consumer credits, geographical indication protection for craft and industrial products, will also be discussed, while there will be a short presentation of the report on the system of European schools.
On the second day (September 12), the Renewable Energy Directive, the single market emergency instrument, ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe will be discussed. In addition, foreign affairs in the presence of a high-ranking official of the European Union, the 2022 Report on Turkey, and the Report on relations with Belarus will be on the agenda as well.
On the third day of the Plenary (September 13), the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will deliver her State of the Union speech before the MEPs, while the European Council will present its position on the draft general budget for 2024 financial year. At the same time, a meeting with Belarusian opposition leader, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, will be held.
On the same day, the MEPs will propose amendment of the proposed mechanism to resolve legal and administrative obstacles in a cross-border context, while they will also discuss cases of breaches of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
On the last day of the Plenary (September 14), MEPs will discuss parliamentarism, European citizenship and democracy, while they will submit interpellations on Rule 139.
