A series of EU co-financed projects are underway by the Cyprus Electricity Authority (ECA) with a total cost of pound 92 million. CNA has learnt that in addition, it is expected that a project will begin to upgrade transmission lines with the reconductoring method. Its cost will be pound 10 million. The projects of the EAC have been proposed for implementation, within the framework of the Political Cohesion Program "THALEIA 2021-2027" with the co-financing of the EU. The contribution of the EU to each project amounts to 70%. For the Core Regulated Activity of Transmission, a project is in progress for the installation and upgrade of transmission substations, that will cost pound 43 million. This project includes the upgrade of electrical equipment in 6 existing Transmission substations, nominal operational voltage 132kV, the upgrading of electrical equipment in a primary substation, nominal operational voltage 22kV and the installation of a new primary substation, nominal operational voltage 22kV. Moreove r, three projects for the Core Regulated Activity of distribution are also underway. The projects concern the development and expansion of the Geographic Information System (GIS) (pound 5 million), the project for the development of an Optical Fiber Telecommunication Network in the Distribution System, (pound 17 million) and the project for the automation of the Distribution System and Installation of a SCADA/ADMS System, (pound 27 million).
