Djokovic vs. Medvedev in US Open men’s final

Top two players in men’s tennis, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, will vie for the 2021 US Open title on Sunday.

Serbian top seed Djokovic eliminated Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the semifinal in New York on Friday night, with the sets of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to reach the singles final.

Djokovic, 34, equaled Swiss legendary player Roger Federer’s record with his 31st Grand Slam final. He is eyeing his 21st Grand Slam title.

In 30 Grand Slam finals, Djokovic has won 20, including nine Australian Open, two French Open, six Wimbledon, and three US Open titles.

If Djokovic wins the US Open again, he could make history as the player with the most Grand Slam titles.

He would also be the first men’s tennis player since Australia’s Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four majors in the same year.

Meanwhile, in the other semifinal match at US Open, World No. 2 Medvedev from Russia beat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime with the sets of 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 to make it to the final in the last Grand Slam of the year.

This will be Medvedev’s third Grand Slam final after the 2019 US Open and 2021 Australian Open.

In the 2019 US Open final, he lost to Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal.

In this year’s Australian Open final, the 25-year-old was beaten by Djokovic in Melbourne.
