Deputy Minister for Shipping to attend a series of events in Greece

Deputy Minister for Shipping, Marina Hadjimanolis, departs on Saturday for Greece to attend a series of events and meetings.

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Ministry, Hadjimanolis will visit on Saturday Chios on the occasion of the inauguration of the Maritime Academy of Chios, which is recognized by the Deputy Ministry, by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

On Monday, the Cypriot Deputy Minister, as well the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy of Greece, Christos Stylianides will take part in a scheduled meeting with officials from Royal Caribbean companym in the premises of the Greek Ministry in Piraeus.

On the same day, Hadjimanolis, accompanied by Deputy Ministry officers, will attend a special event co-hosted by the Propeller Club of Piraeus and Limassol to mark the 50 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos will be the key speaker at the event.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its
northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations, in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively.
