Cyprus tells its nationals to avoid trips to Lebanon as situation ‘may deteriorate further’

Cyprus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs repeated on Wednesday its recommendation to Cypriot citizens to avoid all travel to Lebanon, and those wishing to depart Lebanon are strongly encouraged to take advantage of available commercial flights.

The MFA said in a statement that it is closely monitoring the deteriorating situation in Lebanon and notes that the security situation in the country ‘may deteriorate further without warning’.

Cypriot citizens in Lebanon are asked to avoid all gatherings and demonstrations, to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities.

They are also asked to closely monitor developments and information from the international and local media, to avoid unnecessary movements and to apply maximum security measures.

In case of emergency, Cypriot citizens are invited to contact the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Beirut at Yarzeh Pine Building No 6, Street 15, Baabda.
