Cyprus has sent humanitarian aid worth pound 15,200 to Armenia through the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
A press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Civil Defence said that “Cyprus could not remain uninvolved in the call of the European Civil Protection Mechanism to send humanitarian aid to the people of Armenia following the recent dramatic events and the displacement of more than 100,000 people from the Nagorno-Karabakh region to Armenia as a result of the Azerbaijani military operation”.
Responding to the relevant request, following the completion of the acceptance procedures by Armenia, the Republic of Cyprus sent yesterday, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, medical supplies (medicines and medical consumables) worth 15,200 euros, which have been offered by the State Health Services Organization (SHSO) for the treatment of refugees who have fled to Armenia.
The aid was flown to Armenia via Cyprus Airways free of charge, with the ministry expressing its gratitude for the valuable contribution
and hopes that the cooperation will be extended to other humanitarian actions and initiatives.
