Investigations in relation to the LNG import terminal project in Vassiliko are currently being carried out by a three-member investigative team of the Financial Crimes Prosecution Sub-Directorate, which is under the supervision of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), Police Spokesman Christos Andreou told CNA.
Speaking to CNA, Andreou added that if it is deemed that the investigation team needs to be strengthened, due to the volume of the investigation material, this would be done.
He also said that the investigation team has already received documents from the Audit Office of the Republic of Cyprus.
Andreou clarified that no timetable has been set for the criminal investigation, but that the instructions are that it is completed as soon as possible.
The investigation began following instructions by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
