Cyprus’ FM discusses bilateral relations in a series of New York meetings

Cyprus' Foreign Minister, Constantinos Kombos, discussed bilateral relations on Tuesday in New York during a series of contacts he had in the framework of the High-Level Week of the 79th UN General Assembly, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kombos had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, 'with a focus on further strengthening the historical and close ties between Cyprus and India', it said. He also met with Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, with whom he exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations, as well as on issues of international current affairs, it added. It is noted that the Minister also held a bilateral meeting with his Ugandan counterpart, Odongo Jeje Abubakher, with the main topics of discussion being the further development of cooperation between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels. In the afternoon, Kombos participated in a tripartite meeting with the Foreign Ministers o f Egypt, Badr Abdelatty, and of Greece, George Gerapetritis, during which the level of tripartite cooperation was reviewed and preparations were made for the 10th High-Level Summit that is expected to take place in Egypt within of 2024, it said. This was followed by a bilateral meeting between Kombos and his Egyptian counterpart, with whom he discussed issues related to the bilateral relations of the two countries. On Tuesday morning, Kombos attended the official opening of the 79th UN General Assembly and accompanied the President of the Republic in the bilateral contacts he held with heads of state and other officials.
