The Cypriot Paralympic team arrived in Paris on Sunday afternoon ahead of the Paris Paralympic Games to be held from 28 August to 8 September 2024. A total of 177 countries will participate in the Games, with 549 events and 22 sports in total. Three athletes, Karolina Pelendritou, Maria Markou and Victoras Pentaras, will represent Cyprus at the 2024 Paris Paraolympic Games while the Cyprus delegation comprises 14 people. The team was welcomed at the "Charles de Gaulle" airport by Head of Mission, Andreas Theophylaktou and Assistant Head, Savvas Lakeridis who escorted the delegation to the Paralympic village where strict security measures are in place. On Monday, athletes and coaches will see the competition venues for the first time, where they will also have their first training session. According to the Cyprus National Paralympic Committee, everything is proceeding according to the original plan without any significant issues, except for some procedural matters mainly related to the Opening Ceremony, wh ich will be announced tomorrow after the conclusion of the meeting of the Heads of Mission from the various countries. Three times gold medalist Karolina Pelendritou celebrated her birthday on Sunday and received well-wishes from the members of the delegation. The Opening Ceremony will take place at Place de la Concorde on August 28th, and the Closing Ceremony will be held on September 8th at the Stade de France.
