ISTANBUL: Thousands of people were displaced in the Philippines as Cyclone Kabayan made landfall in the Southeast Asian nation on Monday.
The cyclone made landfall in Davao Oriental in the south of the archipelago nation as it turned into a tropical depression, the Philippines weather bureau said Monday.
Philippines National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said around 6,723 people were displaced due to Kabayan.
It said around 11,729 people from northern Mindanao and other regions were pre-emptively evacuated, daily Phil Star reported.
