Culture minister passes final university exam

Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli on Monday passed his final exam at Rome’s La Sapienza University ahead of gaining his philosophy degree.

The exam was in theory of theological doctrines and Giuli obtained a 30/30 mark without the laude (honours).

“The exam went very well, the minister was extremely well prepared”, said professor Gaetano Lettieri who tested him, adding that Giuli, a journalist, spoke for about 30 minutes during the oral exam.

Lettieri said Giuli had signed up for the exam before becoming minister earlier this month after the resignation of Gennaro Sangiuliano.

The culture minister, who previously headed Rome’s MAXXI contemporary art museum, will present a thesis on Constantine to obtain his degree.

MEanwhile on Monday students with La Sapienza’s left-wing Collective Cambiamo Rotta staged a protest against Giuli’s presence at the department saying it was an “insult to the faculty, where two antifascist students were killed”, given his “historical and political roots connected to Meridian
o zero”, a far-right group.
