World Diabetes Day serves as a reminder that each one of us has a role to play and with collective action we can make steps towards a world where diabetes is better managed and where the stigma and challenges associated with it are greatly reduced, House President Annita Demetriou said on Thursday before the House plenary. Demetriou noted, in her intervention before the plenary read out by the House Acting President, Zacharias Koulias, that this day also reminds us of the strength and resilience of people living with diabetes and the importance of support and understanding. She went on to say that prevention is just as critical as management, that healthy lifestyle choices, such as a balanced diet and regular exercise, can reduce the risk of developing diabetes, and that for those already living with the condition, proper care, regular check-ups and access to medication are also essential.
