A total of 35 bounced cheques, worth pound 86,325, were issued in May 2023, with 19 persons (11 legal entities and 8 natural persons) registered in the preliminary list of the Central Information Register for the Issuers of Dishonoured Cheques (CIR) maintained by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).
During the first five months of 2023, according to data announced by the CBC on Friday, 162 cheques with a total value of pound 435,484 were registered in the preliminary list of the CIR, involving 96 persons (52 legal entities and 44 individuals), a significant decrease compared to the first five months of 2022, when 172 cheques with a total value of pound 838,108 were registered.
In addition, according to CBC data, 20 persons were registered in the CIR in May 2023, of which 8 are legal entities, 1 natural person and 11 natural persons controlling legal entities.
In the first five months, a total of 134 persons (19 individuals) were registered in the CIR, compared to 90 persons (23 individuals) in the same period in 2022.
