ALMATY: Chelsea secured a 3-1 victory against Astana in an away match on Thursday as part of the UEFA Conference League. The win solidifies Chelsea’s position at the top of the group, while Astana continues to struggle at the lower end of the standings.
According to Anadolu Agency, Marc Guiu opened the scoring for Chelsea with a solo effort in the 14th minute at Almaty Ortalyk Stadion. Just five minutes later, Guiu struck again, extending Chelsea’s lead with a close-range finish. The Blues increased their advantage further in the 39th minute when Renato Veiga scored with a header, assisted by Dewsbury-Hall.
Astana managed to pull one back just before halftime with Marin Tomasov finding the net in the 45th minute. Despite Astana’s efforts, Chelsea maintained control and emerged victorious. Chelsea now stands at the top of the League phase table with 15 points, having won all five of their matches. In contrast, Astana is positioned 24th in the standings with four points.
