Caroline Nokes re-elected as Chair of the APPG for Cyprus


Caroline Nokes MP (Romsey and Southampton North, Conservative) was re-elected as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Cyprus.

According to a press release, on Tuesday 26 March, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Parliament where Rt. Hon. Caroline Nokes MP was re-elected as Chair alongside an officer team.

Fabian Hamilton MP (Leeds North East, Labour), Chris Stephens MP (Glasgow South West, Scottish National Party), Theresa Villiers MP (Chipping Barnet, Conservative) were elected as Vice-Chairs.

Sir Roger Gale MP (North Thanet, Conservative) was appointed Honorary President, Bambos Charalambous MP (Enfield, Southgate, Labour) Honorary President and Matthew Offord MP (Hendon, Conservative) Honorary Treasurer.

Other honorary officers include Christine Jardine MP (Edinburgh West, Liberal Democrat), Rachel Hopkins MP (Luton South, Labour). Lord Adonis (Labour), Baroness Massey of Darwen (Labour) and Paulette Hamilton MP (Birmingham Erdington,
Labour).

On the same day APPG for Cyprus hosted a working lunch for the outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus in the UK, Andreas Kakouris. The lunch was attended by APPG for Cyprus Chair Caroline Nokes MP, Honorary Chair Sir Roger Gale MP, Vice-Presidents Fabian Hamilton MP, Chris Stephens MP and Theresa Villiers MP, Honorary Secretary Paulette Hamilton MP, members Bob Blackman, Matthew Offord MP, Shadow Europe Minister Stephen Doughty MP, Lord Truscott MP, Mark Jenkinson MP and APPG Secretariat Christos Karaolis.

The Secretariat of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK also hosted a farewell dinner in honour of Andreas Kakouris.
