Campana withdraws lawsuit against MP over gun accident

Luca Campana has withdrawn a lawsuit against Italian MP Emanuele Pozzolo over a gunshot fired at a party on New Year’s Eve near Biella that injured him after the case was settled out of court, Campana’s attorney said on Monday.

Pozzolo, who admitted bringing the gun to the party but denied firing it, is scheduled to stand trial over the accidental shooting in the town of Rosazza on dangerous explosion charges and for carrying around a collector’s weapon loaded with munitions.

He has been suspended from Premier Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy (FdI) party.

Campana, the son-in-law of a member of the security detail of Justice Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro who was also at the party, was shot in the leg.

A hearing has been scheduled on Wednesday in front of a preliminary investigations judge (GIP).
