ANKARA: Brighton and Hove Albion beat Olympique Marseille 1-0 and both clubs passed the UEFA Europa League group stage on Thursday.
The Marseille club hit the woodwork several times but couldn’t net any goals at Brighton and Hove Albion Stadium.
Brighton’s Simon Adingra wasted several scoring chances for the English side, but then Brazilian forward Joao Pedro netted the winning goal for Brighton in the 88th minute.
Both Group B clubs secured their spots in the Round of 16 as Brighton and Hove Albion placed first with 13 points and Olympique Marseille placed second with 11 points in the group.
Ajax Amsterdam and AEK Athens are both eliminated, with 5 and 4 points, respectively.
