Antalya: Bangladesh invited Turkish investors to invest in its economic zones during a meeting between top officials from both countries on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Trkiye, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam met with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat on Friday to discuss crucial topics related to bilateral trade and economic relations. Alam’s office conveyed that Bolat emphasized the historical ties of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries and expressed Turkey’s interest in developing economic relations with Bangladesh.
Bolat proposed holding a meeting of the Trkiye-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, within the year, as stated by Alam’s office. This initiative follows Bolat’s delegation visit in January, aimed at exploring new trade and business opportunities between the two majority-Muslim nations. During their visit, they also engaged with interim government head Muhammad Yunus and Sheikh Bashir Uddin, the trade adviser.
Discussions between the officials included bringing Turkish technologies to Bangladesh, relocating Turkish factories, and exploring potential collaborations in the defense industry, infrastructure, energy, and health tourism. The trade volume between Trkiye and Bangladesh surpassed $1.3 billion last year, with aspirations to increase it further in the coming years.
