Bad weather: kids kept in school near Savona

Children were kept in school near Savona Wednesday amid widespread flooding caused by torrential rains.

Due to the heavy rains in the area, flooding of streets and basements has been reported in the municipalities of Calice Ligure and Celle Ligure, where the mayor Marco Beltrame amid a yellow alert for storms launched an appeal “to keep the children in school on the first floor this afternoon until further notice.

“Let’s pretend to be on red alert because the situation is quite serious,” said the mayor, “the Ghiare torrent is on pre-alert, a large landslide fell on the Aurelia (highway) in Celle, and (roads company) ANAS has taken action”.

The first citizen of Celle also signed an ordinance that suspends all teaching activities for Thursday.
