Major stock exchanges in Asia, with the exception of Hong Kong and India, closed with gains on Friday.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, was up by 10 points, or 0.3%, to 3,440.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange was the best performer of the day, rising by 347 points, or 1.27%, to 27,761.
China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange gained 13 points, or 0.42%, to finish the week at 3,195, while the Singapore index increased by 5 points, or 0.16%, to finish at 3,231.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, shed 212 points, or 1%, to 21,082.
The Indian Sensex benchmark dropped 48 points, or 0.1%, to end at 55,769.
