ANKARA: At least one person sustained injuries on Wednesday when an artillery shell landed in China’s southwestern Yunnan province bordering Myanmar, state-run media reported.
According to Beijing-based Global Times, an artillery shell, ‘suspected to be from another country, fell into Nansan town,’ causing injury to an unidentified person.
A video posted by the daily showed a person lying on the ground with blood stains on his clothes.
The incident came amid armed fighting in northern Myanmar.
At least three ethnic armed groups, which have united under the so-called Brotherhood Alliance, have been fighting the ruling junta to take control in northern parts of Myanmar since late October.
Last month, China said that the warring parties in the region reached a cease-fire agreement with Myanmar’s ruling junta after mediation efforts by Beijing.
