Archbishop tells Greek Premier he hopes that Greece will stand by Cyprus

The expectation of the entire Hellenism of Cyprus that Greece will stand by Cyprus in its difficult struggle for liberation, was conveyed on Monday to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis by Archbishop of Cyprus Georgios. Mitsotakis had a meeting with the Archbishop in the context of an official visit he paid Cyprus. In a statement after their meeting, at the Archbishopric, Archbishop Georgios said he thanked Mitsotakis for his visit and "I conveyed to him the expectation of the entire Hellenism of Cyprus that Greece will stand by us in the difficult struggle for liberation that we are undertaking." He noted that the response was that "there was no possibility that Greece's attitude could have been different," thanking Mitsotakis. The Archbishop of Cyprus presented the Greek Prime Minister with an icon of Apostle Barnabas, founder and protector of the Church of Cyprus.
