An increase of 6.3% was recorded in April 2023, as regards registrations of motor vehicles that reached 2.987, compared to 2.810 in April 2022, while the total registrations in the first quarter of the year increased by 23.4%. According to the Cyprus Statistical Service, last month, passenger saloon cars recorded a rise of 1.5% to 2.282, from 2.249 in April 2022. It also notes that, during the period January-April 2023 the total registrations of motor vehicles increased by 23.4% to 13.180 in January-April 2023, from 10.682 in January-April 2022. Passenger saloon cars increased to 10.546 from 8.631 in January-April 2022, recording a rise of 22.2%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 4.784 or 45.4% were new and 5.762 or 54.6% were used cars. Rental cars in particular, recorded a rise of 25.3% to 1.717. Motor coaches and buses registered in January-April 2023 increased to 68, from 44 in the same period of 2022. According to the same data, goods conveyance vehicles increased by 19.0% to 1.332 in January-April 2023, compared to 1.119 in January-April 2022. In particular, light goods vehicles increased by 16.6% to 1.044, heavy goods vehicles by 51.4% to 165 and road tractors (units of trailers) by 85.0% to 37, while rental vehicles decreased by 9.5% to 86.
