Applications are now open for the ninth edition of the Istanbul Publishing Fellowship Program, a global event that gathers publishing professionals across the world.
Organized by the Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licensing Society with support from the Culture and Tourism Ministry and Anadolu as a global communication partner, the program aims to promote Istanbul as a global publishing hub and to facilitate collaboration between Turkish and international publishers.
The deadline for applications is Dec. 15, according to a statement by the Turkish Publishers Society.
The 2024 event will be held on March 5-7 at the Rami Library in Istanbul. It will feature a variety of events, including business-to-business (B2B) meetings, panel discussions, and workshops.
As part of the “focus country” event, Mexico has been designated the spot for 2024, while the United Arab Emirates will take on it in 2025.
During the event, Mexican publishers, authors, translators, and association officials will engage
in cultural exchanges, contributing to the enrichment and diversification of mutual literary works.
“For March 2024, we expect over 1,500 publishers from 150 countries. Applications will continue worldwide until Dec. 15,” said Mehmet Burhan Genc, chairman of the Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licensing Society.
Over the past eight years, the event has attracted 1,570 publishers from 90 countries, aiming to encourage publishers from different nations to conduct business in Trkiye and explore new markets.
More than 15,000 bilateral meetings took place during these years, resulting in over 10,000 preliminary copyright agreements.
