Annual decrease of 17.2% in registered unemployed in April

The number of registered unemployed persons decreased by 10,880 individuals in April 2024, marking a 17.2% decline on an annual basis. This represents the lowest number of registered unemployed since June 2021, when automatic renewal of registrations was discontinued.

According to the Statistical Service, based on data from the District Labour Offices, the number of registered unemployed at the end of April 2024 reached 9,343 persons. Adjusted for seasonal fluctuations to reflect unemployment trends, the number of registered unemployed in April 2024 decreased to 10,880 persons, compared to 11,182 the previous month.

Compared to April 2023, there was a decrease of 1,941 persons or 17.2%, mainly attributed to the financial and insurance activities sectors, accommodation and food service activities, construction, trade, as well as a decrease in new entrants to the labor market.
