A total of 103,269 Turkish Cypriots, over 18 years of age, have become holders of the new ID of the Republic of Cyprus, have a registered address in the Turkish occupied areas of the island not controlled by the government and have been included in the special electoral roll for the European Elections, the Office of the Chief Returning Officer has said. "We are looking forward to your participation in this electoral process to choose the Republic of Cyprus' representatives in the European Parliament," the Office of the Chief Returning Officer says in a press release appealing to Turkish Cypriots to cast their vote on June 9. "It is up to you to see that the representation of Cyprus in the new European Parliament will be a result of the joint vote of both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots," it adds. It is further noted that in these elections, "all citizens of the Republic have the right to vote and be voted equally." The Chief Returning Officer's office also notes that special polling stations will ope rate for Turkish Cypriot voters who reside in the areas not under the control of the government of the Republic, including at the Kato Pyrgos high school, the community council offices in Flasou, the community council of Astromeritis, the Multifunctional Centre in Ayios Dometios, the central offices of the Town Planning and Housing Department in Nicosia, the Old Market of Nicosia Municipality, the regional high school in Xylotymbou, the elementary school in Aheritou and the state and community nursery of Deryneia. Citizens can check whether they fulfill the conditions and whether their name has been included in the special electoral roll at https://etv.elections.moi.gov.cy. Meanwhile, in the Local Government Elections, displaced voters vote both on the basis of their place of residence and their place of origin. According to the Election Service, these voters are also allocated to a second polling station where they can vote for the Local Government authorities of the occupied or semi-occupied municipality or community from which they originate.
