A drone attack on an Emirati-owned gas complex in northern Iraq killed at least four Yemeni workers Friday, according to authorities.
The attack targeted the Khor Mor complex owned by the United Arab Emirates company, Dana Gas, in Sulaymaniyah.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) spokesperson Peshawa Hawramani labeled the attack an act of terrorism.
Hawramani said the gas field was severely damaged and the attack would also cause power shortages.
A statement from the KRG’s electricity and natural resources ministries said there was a decrease of 2,500 megawatts (MW) of electricity due to the attack.
It is not the first time the facility has been targeted. It faced missile attacks in recent years with the latest UAV strike Jan.25.
