Duck Creek Technologies Recognizes Argyle Insurance and Coforge with its Standard of Excellence Award

The delivery of a record-breaking, full end-to-end small and medium-sized enterprises commercial line in under 60 days for Argyle Insurance was enabled by remarkable teamwork and technology

Boston, May 15, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Duck Creek Technologies, the intelligent solutions provider defining the future of property and casualty (P&C) and general insurance, is pleased to recognize Argyle Insurance and Coforge as winners of this year’s Duck Creek Standard of Excellence Award. “I am proud to say the unparalleled teamwork between Argyle Insurance, Duck Creek and Coforge enabled us to stand up a full end-to-end product with Duck Creek’s policy, billing and rating solutions in under 60 days,” said Matt Morgan, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Argyle Insurance. “This capability is critical for both start-ups like Argyle Insurance and incumbents to adjust and adapt to the rapid changes happening across the insurance landscape driven by regulatory changes and customer market dynamics, which can have a big impact on insurer success.”

“As a Premier Delivery Partner for Duck Creek Technologies, with 800+ Duck Creek SME’s globally, Coforge is proud to be a part of Argyle’s record-setting go-live journey. This partnership between Coforge, Argyle and Duck Creek Technologies is an outstanding case of seamless collaboration and has set a new benchmark in the industry,” said Rajeev Batra, EVP, Insurance, Coforge.

“Right from the beginning, to achieve the goal of going live in such an accelerated timeline meant remarkable teamwork was going to be critical,” said Mike Jackowski, Chief Executive Officer, Duck Creek Technologies. “All parties were hyper-focused on Argyle’s success during implementation and committed to helping the startup achieve its goals of partnering with brokers to build products that can capture profitable, large market share in a mature, stable market with the agility the Duck Creek platform provides. Parties move to form coalition government in Thailand

Thailand's Move Forward Party (MFP) leader on Monday announced the formation of a coalition government with the Pheu Thai Party (PTP). Pita Limjaroenrat, 42, leader of the center-left MFP, said the two parties garnered the support of at least 309 newly-elected lawmakers. The MFP leader said he had spoken to PTP premier candidate Paetongtarn Shinawatra about forming the coalition, the Khaosod English news website reported. 'Three small parties will also be part of the coalition of 308 MPs,' Pita said, referring to Prachachat, Thai Sang Thai and Liberal Thai Party. If the political coalition matures, Pita will become Thailand's 30th prime minister in July at a joint session of the Southeast nation's parliament. A candidate requires the support of 376 lawmakers to become prime minister. A joint sitting of the 500-seat House of Representatives along with the 250-member Senate will pick the new prime minister. The general elections held in the Southeast Asian nation on Sunday saw MFP leading with 115 constituencies and 38 party list seats. Pheu Thai Party was second, leading in 111 constituencies and 30 party list races. Millions of people in the Southeast Asian country voted to elect a new 500-seat House of Representatives, the lower house of the parliament, for the next four years. The voter turnout was recorded at about 39.5 million, or 75% of registered 52 million voters. Late mid-night, Pita said on Twitter: '…We have the same dream and hopes and we believe that our beloved Thailand will be better. Change is possible if we start from today. Our dream, our hope is simple, straightforward whether you agree with me or not. I will be our prime minister whether you have voted for me or not. I will serve you.' Thailand's political landscape is often divided into two camps: those who support the military establishment, and those who support democracy and civil liberties. Military general turned prime minister and leader of United Thai Nation Party, Prayuth Chan-Ocha, said he welcomes the election results. Prayuth came to power through a military coup in May 2014, ousting the democratically-elected government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. He led the military junta until 2019 when he became the prime minister of a civilian government appointed by the junta's hand-picked lawmakers. He has remained in power since, making him one of Thailand's longest-serving prime ministers. The opposition Pheu Thai Party, one of the most popular political parties that won five general elections before being ousted by the coup, was leading in most polls with a solid support base in rural areas and working-class voters. Emerging from the pro-democracy protests in 2020, the progressive MFP, which quickly gained support among young voters and pro-democracy activists, was also considered one of the leading contenders, according to polls.

Britain to send hundreds of new long-range attack drones to Ukraine

The British government announced on Monday that they will provide Ukraine with hundreds of new long-range attack drones capable of reaching over 200 kilometers (124 miles). This announcement came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid a surprise visit to London to hold "substantive negotiations" with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. "This is a crucial moment in Ukraine's resistance to a terrible war of aggression they did not choose or provoke," Sunak said in a statement. "They need the sustained support of the international community to defend against the barrage of unrelenting and indiscriminate attacks that have been their daily reality for over a year," he underlined. Sunak also said the UK cannot abandon Ukraine, adding it is in everyone's best interest to support Ukraine's success and prevent rewarding "Putin's barbarism." In the past year, the UK has provided training to 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers to enhance their readiness for the battlefield. Additionally, in February, the country revealed plans for a new training program aimed at Ukrainian pilots, with the goal of assisting them in establishing a modern Ukrainian air force equipped with NATO-standard F16 jets. In the upcoming month, the UK will host a Ukraine Recovery Conference aimed at mobilizing international investment to aid Ukraine's reconstruction efforts.

Rising fertilizer prices will exacerbate food crisis: FAO official

Rising fertilizer prices will exacerbate the problem of agricultural commodity prices in coming years, said AbdulHakim Elwaer, the assistant director general of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). Gas supplies and energy prices will affect fertilizer prices and an expected fertilizer crisis will affect the final commodity price, he told Anadolu during the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group's annual meeting in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah. "We have to understand the dynamics and the chronology of the issue and the problem when the war in the Black Sea started," he said. After the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022, energy prices, especially natural gas, increased significantly. And Ukraine, which is a major grain supplier, began to see difficulties exporting grain products and countries that depend on grain imports have faced a food shortage. After some time, those products were transported via the Grain Corridor, initiated because of efforts by Trkiye. "The positive picture is that the whole communities, countries, systems and institutions are waking up to redesign their food security and food supply systems," he said, adding that they invested and maximized local production, reviewed and redesigned their subsidies system, looked at more redistribution in the domestic market and diversified sources for international trade and importing food. He said instead of relying on one source in one geographical region, countries became more aware of finding different suppliers in different regions to prevent them from becoming a victim of a regional crisis. "Especially the region around the Black Sea became more resilient and absorbing southern shocks in food prices," he said. Morocco and Egypt have done much better than in the past 10 years to maximize local production, he said. Elwaer said increased grain stock capacity in the era of the coronavirus pandemic reduced the effects of the war on countries that imported grain from the region. Regional conflicts Touching on conflicts in the Middle East region, he said countries accepting a large number of displaced people now focus on establishing peace in their regions. "Saudi Arabia has taken a lot of displaced people from Yemen, same in Jordan, Trkiye, and Lebanon, so it pushed the countries now to start seriously looking for solutions to peace, which is a positive signal," said Elwaer. On Sudan, which is facing a crisis, he said: "The conflict in Sudan might have a direct impact on food security, but also displaced people will move into Egypt, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, and the other neighboring countries. "So, there is more and more concern from the countries in the whole region to try and resolve these conflicts because they know that conflicts are not only causing food security and human crisis in the country, but also in the neighboring countries," he said. Food insecurity Evaluating the situation of countries facing food insecurity, he said food is available but and accessibility is not enough for everyone. He noted that food availability is based on two different systems: producing or importing. "Food security does not necessarily mean you have to produce the total food you need at home, there is no country that can produce all of its food," he said. 'So, any country, which cannot produce enough food, should manage its economy, organize its food stock system and diversify import sources.' He noted that the FAO has urged setting up a facility by the IMF and the World Bank for short-term debt to help countries facing food insecurity related to the Black Sea crisis.
