2 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza

ANKARA: At least two Palestinians were killed in an overnight airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip as a deadly Israeli onslaught against the enclave enters day 190.

The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, said the Palestinians were killed Saturday in the vicinity of the Sheikh Zayed City area.

Additional airstrikes took place in several areas across the enclave, including Gaza City, Deir al-Balah and the al-Fukhari area in the southern city of Khan Younis.

The Israeli artillery also struck the eastern areas of Jabalia in northern Gaza and the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the central area of Gaza, Wafa added.

Israel has waged a military offensive on Gaza since an Oct. 7 cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas which killed around 1,200 people.

More than 33,600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the war began.

Israel has also imposed a crippling blockade on the seaside enclave, leaving its population, particularly residents of northern Gaza, on the verge of starvation.

The war has pus
hed 85% of Gaza’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while much of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which has urged it to do more to prevent famine in Gaza.
