US gymnast Biles wins Olympic bronze to end Tokyo 2020 campaign

US gymnastics star Simone Biles on Tuesday took an Olympic bronze medal to finish Tokyo 2020 campaign.

Biles, 24, earned bronze in the women’s balance beam category, scoring 14.000 points in the final.

Sixteen-year-old Guan Chenchen of China won gold with 14.633 points.

Chenchen’s compatriot Tang Xijing took silver with a score of 14.233 in the final.

Biles completed the Tokyo 2020 with two Olympic medals; silver with the US team and bronze on the individual balance beam.

Last week Biles pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics women’s team final to “focus on mental health,” as US Gymnastics previously said on Wednesday.

The American gymnastics’ governing body said on Twitter that Biles withdrew from the final individual all-around competition in the Olympics for her mental wellbeing and back Biles for her choice.

On Monday, US Gymnastics announced that Biles would compete in the balance beam final, where she earned a bronze.

Biles won four gold medals at the Rio 2016 Games.

She is one of the most decorated athletes, combining 31 Olympic and world medals so far.
