Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 1,427.06 points, up 1.92% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,413.12 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 26.84 points from Tuesday’s close of 1,400.22 points.
During the day, the index’s value hovered between 1,392.87 points and 1,427.06 points, with 10 stocks on the index falling and 89 rising compared to Tuesday.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1 trillion Turkish liras ($119.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 16.76 billion Turkish liras ($1.98 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA (GARAN), national flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THYAO), and gold miner Koza Altin (KOZAL).
Shares of Garanti BBVA climbed 4.23%, while sports club Fenerbahce (FENER) struggled the most, losing 3.3%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,910.10 by market close, up from $1,881.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $68.69 per barrel as of 6:58 p.m. local time (1558GMT).
