Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,420.49 points on Monday, down 0.11% from the previous close.
Starting the week at 1,423.09 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 1.57 points from the last week’s close of 1,422.06 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,414.32 points, while its daily high was 1,427.44 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 999.84 billion Turkish liras ($116.94 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12.95 billion Turkish liras (over $1.5 billion).
On the first transaction day of the week, 43 stocks on the index rose, 49 fell, and eight were same compared to Friday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by the country’s flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA and iron-steel producer Kardemir.
Real estate investor Ihlas Gayrimenkul was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of conglomerate Bera Holding saw the sharpest drop of 5.78%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,905.45 by market close, up from $1,892 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $69.50 per barrel as of 6:20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
