Turkey’s daily electricity consumption increased by 2% on Tuesday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,052,656 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Wednesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,258 megawatt-hours at 15.00 local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 35,361 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time (0400 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 1,057,814 megawatt-hours on Tuesday, marking a 2% rise from Monday.
Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 39.8% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 17.7% while hydro plants comprised 10.4%.
On Tuesday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 11,886 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 7,151 megawatt-hours.
