Turkey’s daily electricity consumption decreased by 11.9% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 914,335 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 41,368 megawatt-hours at 21.00 local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 32,405 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time (0400 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 921,877 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a 11.86% decrease from Saturday.
Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 37.4% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 16% while lignite plants comprised 13%.
On Sunday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 13,400 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 5,961 megawatt-hours.
