Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,439.86 points on Thursday, down 0.67% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,441.38 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell 9.73 points from Wednesday’s close of 1,449.5 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,433.85 points, while its daily high was 1,441.97 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1 trillion Turkish liras ($128 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).
A total of 30 stocks on the index rose, 63 fell, and seven remained unchanged compared to Wednesday’s close.
Shares of private lenders Garanti BBVA, flagship carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron and steel producer Kardemir recorded the highest trading volumes.
Stocks of gold miner Koza Altin climbed the most with a 4.03% hike, while shares of automotive manufacturer chemical firm Alkim dropped the most, falling 8.13%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,787.30 by market close, down from $1,789.10 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $65.81 per barrel as of 6:23 p.m. local time (1523GMT).
