Turkish sprinter Berke Akcam claimed gold in the men’s 400-meter hurdles at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on Sunday.
Akcam finished the race in second place with a time of 49.38 seconds, but was bumped up to first spot after the initial winner, Sweden’s Oskar Edlund, was disqualified.
Edlund, who finished in 49.20 seconds, was “disqualified because of a trail leg infringement,” World Athletics announced on Twitter.
Denis Novoseltsev took silver with a time of 49.62 seconds and Jamaica’s Devontie Archer won bronze with a run of 49.78 seconds.
