At least five PKK terrorists were neutralized in northern Iraq, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said Thursday.
Through coordinated works of the Turkish Armed Forces and the National Intelligence Organization, the terrorists were neutralized in the Haftanin area by an airstrike, the ministry said in a statement.
“Our struggle will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized,” it added.
Turkish authorities use “neutralized” in statements to imply that the terrorists in question surrendered, were killed or captured.
The PKK terror group often uses bases in northern Iraq, just across Turkey’s southern border, to hide and plot terrorist attacks in Turkey.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
