Sydney McLaughlin of the Team USA set a new world record in the women’s 400-meter hurdles to win a gold medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Wednesday.
She scored 51.46 seconds at Olympic Stadium. The 21-year-old athlete also defeated her own record of 51.90.
Her fellow American Dalilah Muhammad bagged a silver medal with 51.58, while Femke Bol of the Netherlands, who performed 52.03, sealed a bronze medal.
