Global crude steel production reached 161.7 million tons in July, according to the World Steel Association on Tuesday.
The figure was up 3.3% from the same month of last year, the association said in a statement.
World’s top steel producer countries except Chine saw significant annual increases in July.
China’s steel production hit 86.8 million tons, decreasing 8.4% during the same period.
India produced 9.8 million tons of crude steel, up 13.3% while Japan’s steel output jumped 32.5% to 8 million tons.
The figure was 7.5 million tons in the US, surging 37.9% from last July.
Turkey, the eighth-largest crude steel producer, posted a 2.5% year-on-year increase in crude steel output, reaching 3.2 million tons in July.
In January-July, global steel production soared 12.4% from last year to 1.17 billion tons.
The World Steel Association is a prominent industry group, with its members representing around 85% of global steel production with more than 160 steel producers.
