Argentina defeat Japan in Olympic men’s basketball

Argentina beat Japan 97-77 in men’s basketball preliminary round Group C match at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Sunday.

Facundo Campazzo’s triple-double performance with 17 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds made him the key man for Argentina’s victory.

Luis Scola’s 23 points and 10 rebounds also helped his team win.

Japan’s top scorer of the game was Yudai Baba with 18 points.

Meanwhile, in another Group C match, Slovenia won a hard-fought battle against Spain with 95-87.

Dallas Maverick’s Slovenian star Luka Doncic’s almost triple-double performance with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists led his team to victory.

Vlatko Cancar with 22 points, one assist, and two rebounds, along with Mike Tobey with 16 points, three assists, and 14 rebounds were the other shining players of the game for Slovenia.

Spain’s Ricky Rubio’s 18 points, nine assists, and three rebounds were not good enough for the win.

With these results, Slovenia finished first with six points, Spain second with five points, Argentina third with four points, and Japan fourth with three points in preliminary round Group C.

In quarterfinals, Slovenia will play against Germany, Spain will take on US, Italy will play with France and Australia will take on Argentina.

All quarterfinal matches in men’s basketball will be held on Aug. 3.
